Quantum flatness in two-dimensional quantum gravity

چکیده

Flatness -- the absence of spacetime curvature is a well-understood property macroscopic, classical spacetimes in general relativity. The same cannot be said about concepts and flatness nonperturbative quantum gravity, where microscopic structure not describable terms small fluctuations around fixed background geometry. An interesting case are two-dimensional models which lack limit therefore maximally "quantum". We investigate recently introduced Ricci CDT gravity on torus, whose geometry could expected to behave like flat space suitably coarse-grained scales. On basis Monte Carlo simulations we have performed, with system sizes up 600.000 building blocks, this does seem case. Instead, find scale-independent "quantum flatness", without an obvious analogue. As part our study, develop criterion that allows us distinguish between local global, topological properties toroidal system.

Two-Dimensional Quantum Gravity

We show equivalence between the standard weak coupling regime c > 25 of the the two-dimensional quantum gravity and regime h < 1/2 of the original geometric approach of Polyakov [1, 2], developed in [3, 4, 5]. 1 In this letter I shall demonstrate the equivalence of two approaches to the twodimensional quantum gravity. The first approach, called geometric, goes back to Polyakov’s original discov...

Two-Dimensional Quantum Gravity in Temporal Gauge

We propose a new type of gauge in two-dimensional quantum gravity. We investigate pure gravity in this gauge, and find that the system reduces to quantum mechanics of loop length l. Furthermore, we rederive the c=0 string field theory which was discovered recently. In particular, the pregeometric form of the Hamiltonian is naturally reproduced. Discrete States in Two-Dimensional Quantum Gravity∗

We review the recent developments in the two-dimensional (super)gravity coupled to c(ĉ) ≤ 1 (super)conformal matter in the conformal gauge. Starting from a pedagogical account of the conformal anomaly in such a system, we show how the system is transformed into the representation in terms of the (free) Liouville field. Some perturbative justification is given to this procedure. The physical sta...

Barrier in Two-Dimensional Quantum Gravity

We introduce a simple model of touching random surfaces, by adding a chemical potential ρ for “minimal necks”, and study this model numerically coupled to a Gaussian model in d–dimensions (for central charge c = d = 0, 1 and 2). For c ≤ 1, this model has a phase transition to branched polymers, for sufficiently large ρ. For c = 2, however, the extensive simulations indicate that this transition...

Two-Dimensional Quantum Gravity with Boundary

Using the recently found first order formulation of two-dimensional dilaton gravity with boundary, we perform a Hamiltonian analysis and subsequent path integral quantization. The importance of the boundary terms to obtain the correct quantum result are outlined and the quantum triviality of the theory is shown to hold with this modification as well. We compare with recent classical results and...
